Poor inequality at home is bad for men as well as women, a new study claims.

Who does the dishes and the laundry in Swedish homes? Well, a researcher at Umeå University says it is still mostly women who are responsible for the housework. In homes where chores are divided less equally, everyone suffers, including men, the study claims.

Lisa Harryson, author of the study, spoke to Radio Sweden about her findings. She said there is real anguish caused by sharing housework unequally.

The study included interviews with 1,000 men and women whom the university has followed since 1981, when they were all just 16 years old.
