Fire at Kiruna mine
There’s a fire at LKAB’s mine in Kiruna, where a vehicle is burning 740 meters underground.
According to press reports, at around 4:40 PM local time there were 337 people underground in the mine. They’ve been told to stay where they are as they have access to fresh air.
The burning vehicle is reportedly a truck, which caught fire in a repair area for trucks used to move explosives. That area has been evacuated and LKAB’s head of information Anders Lindberg tells Swedish Radio News they see no risk of an explosion.
