Malmö woken by bakery bombing
Police suspect that a powerful explosion in the Malmö district of Fosie was an attempted murder, reports Swedish Television. A bomb detonated around 3:30 AM on Tuesday in a shoping centre's bakery.
The blast destroyed the front of the property, broke windows in the housing block opposite, and was so loud that it woke many Malmö residents.
Peter Martin at the Skåne police told news agency TT that there was someone in the shop at the time "well underway with the morning's baking, but no one was injured."
Another police officer told Swedish Television that if the baker had been in the front part of the property "it could have ended very badly".
Police are talking to witnesses and have begun a forensic investigation.
