Swedish Radio's Saudi weapons deal story wins international journalism prize

Swedish Radio reporters Bo-Göran Bodin and Daniel Öhman, along with their supervisor Rolf Stengård, have won what is considered to be one of the world's most prestigious investigative journalism prizes for their report "Project Simoom."

The citation from the judges' of the Investigative Reporters & Editors states the motivation for awarding the journalists a medal for reporting done in 2012: "In a tour de force of journalism enterprise, Swedish Radio News reporters uncovered one of the most secretive projects in Sweden: the illegal financing and construction of an advanced weapons factory in the Saudi Arabian desert in violation of the country's strict human rights criteria."
