Nearly 200 sign petition backing Stockholm rabbi

Around 180 people have signed a petition calling for the Jewish Community of Stockholm to offer rabbi David Lazar a permanent position. Lazar has been at the Great Synagogue of Stockholm since 2010. He often talks about interfaith dialogue and he has been on the front line of the gay rights movement for years.

But some of his decisions have divided the Jewish community here.

Update: Early Friday morning, the Jewish Community of Stockholm announced that negotiations over rabbi David Lazar's contract had broken down and that the rabbi would be leaving his post. Read more here.
