Sweden's pharmacies were partly privatised three years ago - now two of the private companies are merging.

The Hjärtat company is buying up Vårdapoteket, which has 27 stores in Swedish hospitals, to have a total of 300 stores.

And last week the owner of the Kronans drugstores said it was buying the Medstop chain, meaning it will also grow to around 300 stores.

Both these deals will have to be passed by the Swedish medical products agency, plus the Competition Authority.
