"We are extremely delighted to announce that Benny, Björn and Avicii has accepted to compose a unique piece of music for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest," said the Executive Producer Martin Österdahl to SVT's official Eurovision website.
Public service broadcasters SVT said that the idea of a Eurovision anthem for Malmö was there from the beginning and the Abba duo and 23-year-old Tim Bergling, otherwise known as Avicii, were at the top of the list to produce the song.
The Abba legends said they did not need much persuading to take part.
"Martin Österdahl and Show Producer Christer Björkman presented us beautifully with SVT’s vision for the contest. This led us on to the assignment to collaborate with Avicii on a piece about mutual understanding and fellowship. It’s a lot of fun and very inspiring,” say Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.
Avicii's executive producer, Ash, also tells SVT that the young DJ is excited to be involved.
"To experience the union of two of Sweden’s biggest musical exports and the collaboration between generations is extremely exciting,” Ash says.
Fans will have to wait until May 18 to hear the song.
