Salmonella found in animal feedstuff

A producer of feedstuff in Uppsala has discovered salmonella bacteria among their products. Several hundred animal owners have received products that could be contaminated, reports news agency TT.

"Between 300 and 400 animal owners have received deliveries from this company. That does not mean all have been infected, the highest risk is with delieveries received after 7 April," says Helena Kättström, head of animal protection at the Board of Agriculture.

Salmonella bacteria, relatively rare in Sweden, can cause typhoid fever and other illnesses.
