Stockholm patient journals taken off-line

Health services in Stockholm were hit by major disruption Tuesday as the city's digital patient journal system was hit by a bug, meaning doctors across the city could read the information in the medical records, but not make any changes or add any new information.

All the main accident and emergency units were hit, as were many other doctors' surgeries, according to news agency TT. In total 125 care providers were affected.

Health service officials said the servers were back up shortly after 5pm, and added that there are procedures to add patient updates to the system manually once the system is back online.
