Passenger Trains Again Link Northern Sweden, Norway

The spirit of Nordic co-operation is credited with convincing both Swedes and Norwegians to re-open passenger train service  between the far northern towns of Kiruna and Narvik.

For years, local residents and tourists in the region have been forced to drive their cars over the border  – or stand by watching the cargo trains filled with iron ore roll over the mountain tracks – on their way down to the port of Narvik to reach those waiting ships.
