First jail sentence after Stockholm riots

The first conviction following the Husby riots came in Stockholm, Thursday. A 26-year-old man was convicted of several charges including criminal damage after setting two cars alight in May. He was sentenced to six months in prison. 

The man was also convicted of assault, driving without a license, drunk driving and drug offenses. He must also pay SEK 10,000 in damages.

The 26-year-old was known to the police and was on probation when the crimes were committed.

The riots in Husby and surrounding suburbs of Stockholm made international headlines.
