Prison sentence for cannabis growers

Two men in their thirties were sentenced to two years in prison today for drug crimes. When police raided a villa in Högsby in southeastern Sweden, they found nearly 28 kilos of cannabis.

Police say that cannabis cultivations are being discovered all over Sweden, and that most marijuana in the country today is grown domestically.

The indoor cultivations of cannabis started spreading in the mid-2000's, when Vietnamese criminals established themselves in Sweden, writes news agency TT.

"I am sure they are still here, but Swedes have also started growing. It is a phenomenon that is now established in the country," says Stewe Alm, an analyst with the police.
