Fears over Facebook users' data security

Sweden's Data Inspection Board has sought clarification from the EU Commission on what degree of data protection Facebook users here have from US authorities.

According to Swedish Radio News, the Board's move follows concerns raised by members of the public that their Facebook user details risk being transfered from the social networking site's servers in Sweden to US authorities.

The Board wants to establish whether content held on servers in this country fall under Swedish jurisdiction.

In June, UK daily newspaper The Guardian reported that major internet groups such as Facebook, Google and Apple actively cooperated with the National Security Agency by sharing users' content with it.
