Unemployment edges higher

Unemployment in Sweden edged higher in June to stand at 484,000, or 9.1 per cent of the workforce.

According to Statistics Sweden, the number of unemployed in the same month last year was 477,000, also 9,1 per cent of the working population.

The number of those in work in June rose to 4,815,000, compared to 4,788,000 in the same month last year.

Separately, the National Institute of Economic Research has left its forecast for Swedish GDP in 2013 unchanged from June at 1.5 per cent. The Institute predicts GDP growth of 2.5% in 2014.
