Murder suspect detained in Poland

A 36 year old man who is suspected of murdering a young woman in the western Swedish town of Trollhättan was taken into custody by the police in Poland Monday.

The man was an acquaintance of the 23 year old woman, who went missing on June 30. Large quantities of blood were found in her apartment, and on one of her two children.

The 36 year old was remanded in his absence on suspicion of murder. He turned himself into the Swedish Embassy in Warsaw on Monday and was taken into custody by the Polish police.

The suspect’s lawyer, Tommy Nilsson, says he spoke to his client shortly before he entered the embassy, Nilsson says his client turned himself in rather than triggering a dramatic arrest at an airport or ferry terminal when he returned to Sweden.
