Mission to discover fate of Swedish colony

Expedition to discover fate of Swedish settlers

"They were young guys looking for adventure."
3:46 min

Back in the mid-19th century, a group of Swedish adventurers settled in modern day Angola and Namibia. At first the colony thrived, but all contact was lost and nothing has been heard from the settlers since 1925.

Now a group of researchers are retracing the settlers' steps to discover their fate.

Our reporter Nick Chipperfield spoke to the leader of the expedition, Peter Johnsson, on the line from Namibia, and asked who these intrepid Swedes were.
