Algae bloom over for this year (probably)

Just as Swedish summer vacations are coming to an end, the risk of poisonous algae blooms is the Baltic is also ending for this year.

So it’s safer to swim again.

According to a survey by the Swedish weather service SMHI, the various kinds of blue-green algae are breaking up. But, the agency warns, the water is still warm so there’s a risk the algae may bloom again later in the month, and there are still some local algae blooms along the east coast.
