Swedes Deny Asylum to Apathetic Refugee Youngsters

A Swedish parliamentary committee on social questions has vetoed a proposal to grant a general amnesty to 150 refugee children and their parents in cases where the youngsters have become totally apathetic during the long period of asylum seeking.

The ruling Social Democrats and the largest opposition party, the Conservatives, vote against the proposal – fearing this would only encourage others to try the same extreme means.

The other political parties say the question should be further studied – since the condition is so serious that no one would pretend to be in such a state.

Critics blast Sweden for what they call an inhumane refugee policy – driving youngsters into black depressions and endangering their mental health and very lives.
