A bottle containing a letter from Swedish school pupils has been found on the west coast of Sweden two decades after it was thrown into the water, local newspaper Nya Wermlands-Tidningen (NWT) reports.

Pupils from the Hammarlundens school south of Karlstad in west-central Sweden wrote the message in Swedish and English back in May 1993, asking the person who would find it to get in touch.

It was Malte Bolander who found the bottle on an island. He sent an email to the school to let them know.

"My God, it's great that it has been found!" said Anna-Lena Kihlsten, who has worked at the Hammarlundens school since 1987.
