Heavy rain causes flooding in the north

Intense downpour in the southern part of Norrland has caused trouble for locals. Basements filled up, a bridge was on the edge of collapse, and there were telephone outages.

Between 100 and 120 millimeters of rain fell in the Söderhamn area. The storm closed down telephone services in the Ljusdal area, including access to the emergency number 112.

Rail traffic between Söderhamn and Hudiksvall came to a stop because of a flooded tunnel.

The weather is not expected to improve in the north until Thursday.
