Local politician found guilty of rape

Published måndag 12 augusti 2013 kl 13.18

A local politician from Sotenäs in western Sweden has been found guilty of rape. He has received a two-year prison sentence for abusing a female colleague in a Stockholm hotel room earlier this year.

He has also been ordered to pay SEK 115,000 in damages to the victim.

According to chief prosecutor Lena Lithner, the politician received the lowest sentence under the law because he has no prior criminal record. The man has also resigned from all of his political duties.
