Social Democrats want third semester

Sweden’s opposition Social Democrats are calling for the introduction of a three semester system for the country’s colleges and universities. The proposal came from party leader Stefan Löfven in a speech to the party’s youth wing Monday.

The reason for adding a summer semester is that it would help people who want to finish their studies over a shorter period, as well as those who need to retake courses, and those who fail to find summer jobs and prefer to study over the summer.
