A 16-year old boy has been sentenced to 50 hours community service for online abuse using the photo sharing service Instagram.

The boy was ordered to pay SEK 10,000 in damages to his victim, also aged 16, reports news agency TT.

He was also convicted for threatening to his school principal.

The court ruling follows a similar sentencing in June handed down to two teenage girls who sparked riots in Gotheburg last year when they spread sexually slanderous texts via Instagram.
