Volvo gets Beijing green light for extra factories

Volvo cars, the Swedish subsidiary of Chinese-based Geely Group, has received the green light from Beijing to build a second and third plant in China, reports news agency AFP.

Volvo, which has an existing plant in the southwest Chinese city of Chengdu, will now have an engine plant in northern China, due to become operational later this autumn and an assembly plant to the east in Daqing city, which will be ready by 2014.
