Hot air balloons delay flights into Stockholm

Three hot air balloons caused delays for flight traffic into Stockholm's Bromma Airport on Friday evening. The balloons came up against rising warm air currents that surprised the pilots and pushed the balloons over the inner city airport.

"The balloon pilots have not been able to master it and have gone into Bromma's airspace," says Carl Selling at  Aviation Authority LFV to Swedish Radio News.

In-bound flight traffic was forced to circle several times for twenty minutes while the balloons finally left Bromma's flight path.

Carl Selling says it is "very rare" for hot air balloons to fly close to Bromma Airport.
