Rail traffic came to a stop for several hours Monday morning between Uppsala and Gävle because the overhead electrical wires had been stolen.
SR Gävleborg reports that the theft, near Tierp, was probably for the copper in the cables. The line has double tracks, and the Swedish Transport Administration says that one of them has been restored to service.
Meanwhile, the agency reports that rail traffic south of Katrineholm has slowed down because of “faulty rail vehicles”. Traffic is expected to return to normal capacity Tuesday morning.
