Czechs to renew Gripen deal past 2015

The Czech prime minister says his country will renew its contract to use Sweden's Gripen warplanes past 2015, reports news agency AFP.

Prime minister Jiri Rusnok will shortly be stepping down, after losing a no confidence vote, and says that "the next government will make the final decision", although his administration will try to help the deal along.

In 2005 the Czech military paid a billion US dollars to use the Gripen, but Rusnok says the next deal will be for "a period longer than ten years."
