US President Barack Obama may visit Stockholm's Synagogue when he comes to the Swedish capital next week.

News agency TT reports the President will come to commemorate Swede Raoul Wallenberg, who saved the lives of thousands of Hungarian Jews in Budapest during Second World War. The US embassy in Stockholm has surveyed the synagogue and its surroundings, including the monument in memory of Raoul Wallenberg, TT reports.

Lena Posner-Körösi, head of the Jewish congregation in Stockholm tells the news agency it would be a welcome boost to the Jewish community in Sweden, but adds there are other groups in Sweden that are also suspect to discrimination, such as the Roma.

Most of the details of the President's up-coming visit are currently under wraps.
