Anna-Karin Kammerling

Anja Persson, the reigning world cup skiing champ, is once again number one in the standings, despite finishing third in the giant slalom in Åre, Sweden Sunday.

Persson stands just 8 points ahead of rival Janica Kostelic of Croatia, but she says that the lead is ‘the perfect situation—it couldn’t be better’.

In swimming:  Sweden’s Anna-Karin Kammerling was the women’s overall winner in the FINA World Cup.  Therese Alshammer came in second in the overall standings after winning both the 100 meter freestyle and the 50 meter butterfly at a meet in Brazil over the weekend.
