A tent may have caused a large houseboat in Malmö to overturn during a party Saturday night.

Eight people have been taken to the hospital, and one is reported to have suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

Daniel Jonasson of the Malmö Police tells Swedish Radio News a party tent set up on the roof of the houseboat may have caused the turnover, by changing the boat’s balance and catching the wind.

Around 40 people ended up in the water after the boat turned over in a canal in Malmö’s western harbour around 8:20 PM Saturday. Rescue services searched the boat and divers searched the water, and reported that no one remained unaccounted for.
