The Vilsta water leak in July
homes advised to boil drinking water

Water returns to Eskilstuna

At least 1000 households in Esilstuna were without water Sunday morning, but service began to return at around 11:00 AM.

But households in Hällberg, Lilla Nyby, and Viptorp are advised to boil their water until further notice as a safety measure.

Tests are underway to make sure no harmful bacteria are entering the drinking water. Cecilia Bäck, head of information for Eskilstuna energi och miljö tells the TT news agency the measure is precautionary “We don’t think any coliform bacteria are in the water, but we’ll test and we’ll have the results Monday afternoon.”

The same main pipeline in Vilsta suffered a leak just one month ago, and at the time coliform bacteria were found and residents advised to boil their water.
