Social Democrats unveil new student job plans

The Social Democrats want to make it easier for companies to hire students part-time, Swedish TV news reports.

In their up-coming shadow budget the party has been inspired by the Danish system, where students get a foot in the job market, while continuing their studies, according to SVT.

Small and medium sized companies would be the main targets for the scheme, the Social Democrats say, and they say new ideas from the students could help the companies develop. The jobs should be in the same field as their studies.

The student workers would be paid slightly under the going rate for new employees.
