Swedish TV call for Melodifestival entries

Swedish Television (SVT) have officially opened the doors to entrants for next year's Swedish Song Contest, or Melodifestivalen.

Entries can be uploaded to the SVT website for the next two weeks, and then a jury will select 16 of the songs to compete in the contest next year. Another 15 songs will be selected directly by SVT. The final place in the contest will go to the band Eko, who won the talent competition Svensktoppen Nästa.

Foreign nationals are allowed to submit songs, but they have to be written in co-operation with a Swedish citizen, and they must already have had at least one song published.

The winner of Melodifestivalen will represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen in May.
