"Eat, Sleep and Die" vies for Oscar nod

Sweden has chosen the film "Eat, Sleep and Die" as its official selection for the 2014 Oscars foreign-language category.

The Swedish Film Institute chose the film, a debut production by filmmaker Gabriela Pichler that centers around 20-year-old Rasa, a working-class woman from a small town who loses her job at a factory.

"Eat, Sleep and Die" first premiered in Sweden in October 2012 and went on to win the Audience Award at the Venice Film Festival.

The nominations for foreign-language Academy Awards will be announced Jan. 16 and the awards ceremony will takes place March 2.
