Another Gothenburg shooting - but no link to double murder

A man in his twenties was shot in the Hammarkullen suburb of Gothenburg on Friday evening. He was shot several times, but the injuries are not fatal, the news agency TT reports.

The incident comes after a series of shootings in Gothenburg over the summer and it is the 28th reported shooting in and around the town since the beginning of the year.

The man in Hammarkullen is not known previously by the police, and there is no link to the double murder on the Gothenburg island of Hisingen on Wednesday, according to Sven Ahlbin, head of the police's regional criminal investigation department.

"We see no link at all between the shooting yesterday and what happened earlier in the week," he told Swedish Radio Göteborg.

Asked if he thinks that those involved in the shootings seem more and more unconcerned about the loss of life, he agrees. "It seems they are indifferent when it comes to realise the effect of using lethal weapons. It is frightening," he says.
