Helsingborg fire under control

The fire that started in central Helsingborg in the early hours of Sunday morning is now under control, Swedish Radio P4 reports. People no longer have to stay indoors. While firefighters continue to work at the scene, the business owners in the area are contemplating their loss.

"Everything has been lost," says Håkan Hellqvist, partner in the transport company, which lost its office and storage facilities at Planteringsvägen in the fire.

The fire spread very rapidly and it took several hours before the six fire crews could get the fire under control. "This is going to take large parts of the day," Anders Nilsson, who is heading the rescue operation on site, told Swedish Radio P4 around 9 am.

At one point police advised people to stay indoors and close windows, doors and air vents, due to all the smoke. There is no indication as yet that anyone has been injured in the fire.
