Swedish games industry boom continues
The Swedish Games Industry is once again reporting boom figures. Be it games for consoles or smart phones, Swedish productions such as Candy Crush and Minecraft are reaping record profits, and the industry as a whole is now worth almost SEK 4 billion annually.
The biggest success story is Minecraft, developed by games company Mojang. It recorded a profit in 2013 of SEK 325 million, and is by far the biggest player in the Swedish games industry.
Spokesman for the industry organisation, the Swedish Games Industry, Per Strömbäck, says everything is pointing upwards, including the number of women working in the industry. Currently only 15 percent of games developers are female.
