Some students may stay in school extra year

Published torsdag 12 september 2013 kl 11.15

The Swedish coalition government wants students to stay in school another year if they have not fulfilled all requirements for high school (gymnasium).

Ninth grade students who have failed to quality for high school would be obliged to to attend summer school, or in some cases continue for an extra year of schooling.

"Summer school may not be enough for those students who need to make up several subjects and have major gaps in their education . For those students, we may be talking about an extra rear of school, Minister of Education Jan Björklund told Swedish Radio News.
