Why Business Sweden's top exec axed

The firing of the chief executive of state-owned Business Sweden was precipitated by information about improper expenditures provided by a whistleblower to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to financial daily Dagens Industri.

Business Sweden's CEO Ulf Berg was fired last Tuesday following an internal investigation which revealed high costs for representation, including hotels, meals and taxis.

Business Sweden, was founded January 1, 2013, as a result of a merger of the Swedish Trade Council and Invest Sweden. The agency helps Swedish companies reach export markets.
