EU Socialist Leaders Meet in Stockholm

European Union Socialist Party leaders are meeting here in Stockholm – discussing how to extend the welfare state concept in the EU and to make the pledges of the Lisbon agreement a reality.

Swedish Social Democratic Prime Minister Göran Persson and colleagues say that progress on social and environmental questions can be made along with competition in the market system.

They add that Europe is not using all of its potential and the energy of the unemployed to reach higher goals.
