Swedish doctor accused of corruption in Ethiopia

A Swedish doctor is on trial in Ethiopia after being arrested on suspicion of corruption last spring.

On October 31st, Swedish embassy staff visited the man, who is in his sixties, and confirmed that he was doing well "considering the circumstances", the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs said.

The doctor helped set up a clinic in Ethiopia which several Swedish organisations and companies have funded. One of the financiers is state-owned Swedfund, a Development Financial Institution.
