Center Party MP pulls out of elections

Center Party MP Abir Al-Sahlani has withdrawn her EU election candidacy following fraud allegations against her, and she will not be running for parliament in 2014.

"I do not want to conduct a campaign that will not have the right focus," Al Al-Sahlani wrote in a statement, adding that she will put her energy on cooperating with the prosecutor in the fraud investigation.

On Tuesday, Al-Sahlani decided to take a "time out" after becoming a suspect of fraud in conjunction with an aid project in Iraq led by her father.

Swedish Radio News reported that the Swedish Economic Crime Authority is investigating al-Sahlani on suspicion of fraud for several million SEK.
