Volvo worker cheated company out of millions

A former employee at the car manufacturer Volvo was suspected Tuesday to have cheated the company out of millions of kronor, reports news agency TT. According to deputy chief prosecutor Thomas Ahlstrand, the suspect was working as a purchaser for Volvo and allegedly made false orders in the company's name.

Some goods were allegedly never delivered but according to the newspaper Göteborgs-Posten, payments totaling over SEK 7 million went to accounts abroad connected to the man. The former worker at Volvo was arrested last week on probable cause, suspected of serious fraud but was released after a detention hearing. The man denies the offense.
