Friedlander: Picture Perfect!

American photographer Lee Friedlander has been awarded the 2004 Hasselblad Foundation International Award in Photography.
The 71-year-old photographer was, according to the foundation, honoured for being, ”among the most significant, inventive and influential contemporary photographers, with a lifetime achievement spanning the last 50 years.”
The US$74,000 prize and a gold medal, will be presented at a ceremony on Nov. 19 in Gothenburg, south-western Sweden. An exhibit featuring Friedlander’s works will also be displayed at the Hasselblad Centre there.
The Erna and Victor Hasselblad Foundation promotes scientific education and research in natural sciences and photography.
