Henrik Stenson voted "Sportsman of the year"

Golfer Henrik Stenson was the most popular sports personality of 2013, winning the prestigious Jerring Prize at last night's Swedish Sports Gala. The award is voted on by the general public, and Stenson just beat cross-country skier Johan Olsson for the prize.

Henrik Stenson, currently the world number three, won the money list titles on both sides of the Atlantic, was runner up at the Open and he came third at the PGA Championships.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who won FIFA's Puskás Award for best goal of 2013 at the Balon d'Or ceremony also held last night, came third in the Swedish vote.

Other winners at the Swedish Sports Gala included the Swedish men's national ice hockey team, known as Tre Kronor, which won "Team of the year". "Sportswoman of the year" was 1,500 meter gold medallist Abeba Aregawi, while Henrik Stenson also won "Sportsman of the year".
