Snowfall means treacherous roads in the south

Heavy snowfall overnight means problems for drivers in the south of the country. The bridge to Denmark is affected and the speed limit has been lowered to 50kph.

It is the combination of wind and snow that may mean traffic problems for several days, reports Swedish Radio News.

In Fallköping municipality highways 47 and 46 have been blocked between Kinnarp and Vilhelmsro, say police. Several accidents have also been reported, but no serious injuries.

Bus lines in Ystad, Trelleborg and Eslöv have been affected, and in Simrishamn school busses are cancelled.

And adding to the transport misery, a fire has stopped trian traffic between Eskilstuna and Flen. There is, so far, no prediction on when trains will start rolling again.
