Bildt "disappointed" at Iran exclusion

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has expressed disappointment that Iran will not attend the Syria peace talks in Montreux.

Writing on Twitter, he says "it was a mistake to dis-invite Iran from Montreux", claiming that one lesson that should have been learned from the Bosnia peace talks in the nineties, was that all interested parties should be present at talks.

Bildt was heavily involved in the Bosnian deal, as the EU's special envoy, later becoming UN envoy to the region. He will also be attending the talks in Montreux.
