Consumer ombudsman to battle mobile cold calls

The Swedish consumer ombudsman is to take on tele-marketing companies who have started ringing  mobile phones.

For many years it has been regarded as good tele-marketing practice to avoid targeting mobile phones. However, companies Kontakta and Swedma, which deal with direct marketing and customer service, have recently suggested changing their ethical guidelines.

The company Energibolaget i Sverige AB has already begun this practice. The ombudsman is requesting that the Swedish Market Court forbid them from doing so, and that this will lead to a law prohibiting this practice within the entire industry.
