Boden mutilation killer sentenced to jail

The 22-year-old convicted of killing a woman in Boden in northern Sweden last spring has been sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by a local court.

That is four years less than prosecutors wanted.

Judges said the man's disabilities could have affected how he controlled his own behaviour, and how he understood people's reactions to how he dealt with the body.

The woman disappeared last May after having studied in the man's flat. Her body was later found chopped up in a deserted house and nearby forest. Police say they were never in any doubt as to the man's guilt, claiming the technical evidence was strong.
