Hansdotter wins her first World Cup race
Sweden's Frida Hansdotter claimed her first ever World Cup win in Kranjska Gora Sunday, building momentum for the Winter Olympics in Sochi next week.
Hansdotter has finished in second place six times the last two seasons but finally got her first win Sunday, just one week before the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Hansdotter stood second after the opening run, only bested by the American Mikaela Shiffrin. Shiffrin, however, couldn't maintain her lead in the second run and finished in sixth place.
"I got tears in my eyes when I realised I just won my first World Cup race," Hansdotter told Swedish Television SVT shortly after her victory was sealed.
